Over Five Decades of Vision & Resolve

Every great legacy begins with a single act of courage. Ours began when a young entrepreneur from Gujarat planted roots in Ceylon and built an empire from the ground up.

1940s

A New Land, A Bold Dream

Haji Anver Ahamed arrives in Ceylon from Porbandar, Gujarat at the age of 15. With little more than ambition and an extraordinary work ethic, he begins his journey in the textile trade — learning the craft from the ground up.

1967

Janatha Industries Is Born

With an unshakeable belief in Sri Lanka's industrial future, Haji Anver Ahamed establishes Janatha Industries — one of the earliest manufacturing enterprises in the country. A pioneer is born.

1970s – 2000s

Expanding the Empire

Decades of growth, reinvestment and innovation. Janatha Industries expands its operations, creates hundreds of jobs and earns recognition as one of Sri Lanka's established business houses. The name earns its place in Sri Lankan history.

A Man Who Bet
On Sri Lanka.

In the 1940s, a teenager from Porbandar, Gujarat crossed the Indian Ocean and landed in Ceylon. He had no connections, no capital, and no guarantee of success. What he had was a quality that cannot be manufactured: character.

Haji Anver Ahamed spent his early years learning the textile trade with the patience and precision of a craftsman. By 1967, he transformed that knowledge into action — founding Janatha Industries and building one of Sri Lanka's pioneering manufacturing enterprises.

He was right. The company grew. Jobs were created. Livelihoods were transformed. And the Janatha name became synonymous with quality, integrity, and industrial vision.
